Short answer: a small move is a studio, a single room, a one-bedroom flat with light furniture, a student flat, or a few large items plus boxes. It is the kind of job people search for as a man with a van. We coordinate it: you send a list and a few photos on WhatsApp, in English, and we come back with one closed price. An independent moving company with a suitable vehicle does the move. For a small job, the floor, the elevator and the parking decide the price more than the number of boxes do.
What fits? A studio with a bed, a wardrobe, a desk and a few dozen boxes. A student leaving a shared flat with a mattress, a desk and a bicycle. Someone leaving a furnished rental who owns only a sofa, a table and a lot of books. A couple with a box-heavy home and very little furniture. The rule of thumb is simple: if everything you own would fit comfortably into one load of a van, it is a small move. If you are not sure, send the details anyway, and we tell you which kind of job it is.
Floors decide more than volume. A studio on a fourth floor without an elevator can be a bigger job than a three-room flat with an elevator and a loading space at the door. In many older Israeli buildings the stairwell is narrow and turns sharply at each landing, and a mattress or a wardrobe door has to be tilted at every turn. So the first things we ask are the floor at each end, whether there is an elevator and whether a mattress fits inside it, and where a vehicle can stop. Parking is the other half. A vehicle that has to wait on a busy street, or the carry from the nearest legal space to the door, adds time even to a small job.
Send photos, not paragraphs. A picture of each large item, a picture of the stairs and of the street outside each address, and a date range tell us more than a long message. Mention anything awkward: bicycles, an electric scooter, a mirror, a television, plants, a stroller. A few awkward items change how a load is packed into a vehicle, so they belong in the price from the start.
Students and shared flats have their own rhythm. In a shared flat, agree with your flatmates which items are yours before the day, because the people carrying will take whatever you point at. Ask the landlord or the building whether there are rules about elevator use or quiet hours. Student moves tend to cluster at the end of the summer, before the autumn term, and at the end of the spring semester, so if that is your window, book early. When you hand the flat back, photograph every room after it is empty. It protects you if there is a dispute about the condition later. Our guide to renting an apartment in Israel lists what else to check at move-in.
Timing is flexible, but not unlimited. A small move takes a few hours, so it can fit into a morning or an afternoon. Same-day or next-day requests are sometimes possible when a moving company has space, but we can only say yes after asking one, and we never promise a slot that nobody has confirmed. Fridays and the days around Jewish holidays are short, so if your lease ends on one of them, ask early.
If a piece does not fit, deal with it before the day. Bed frames, wardrobes and bookcases are often taken apart for the stairs and put together again at the new place. Measure the narrowest point on the path, whether a doorway, a stair turn or an elevator door, and compare it with the item. Our furniture assembly service covers the taking apart and the putting back together. If you would like help with packing as well, that has its own page.
Know when it is not small. A full apartment of furniture, a house or an office is a different job with a different plan, and the other service pages describe them. A small load that has to cross the country is still a long trip for the vehicle, and the long-distance page explains how that works.
There is no price list on this site, because floors and parking change the answer. Send the details, and we reply with one closed price in writing. If something changes before the day, such as a wardrobe you decided to bring after all, we update the price before the work starts.
