Short answer: a long-distance move in Israel means leaving one region for another, for example Jerusalem to the coast, the centre to Haifa and the north, or Tel Aviv to Beer Sheva. The country is small, so most of these are a single day. The price depends on more than the kilometres: floors, access and volume at both ends count as much as the road in between. You send us the two addresses and the details on WhatsApp, in English, and we come back with one closed price. We coordinate the move, and an independent moving company carries it out.
As a rule of thumb, once the vehicle has to leave the metropolitan area where you live, you are in intercity territory. The busiest corridors are easy to describe in words. The centre to Jerusalem runs along Route 1, which slows at the morning and late-afternoon peaks. The centre to Haifa and the Carmel runs along the coast. The centre to Beer Sheva and the northern Negev crosses open country, and the run to Eilat is a different kind of planning altogether, usually a two-day job. Moves to and from the Galilee, the Golan and smaller towns in the south are possible, but the choice of moving companies is thinner, and we tell you plainly if none of the companies we work with can do your date.
Why does a long move cost what it costs? Distance matters, and so does the empty return: a vehicle that has driven two hours to a remote town has to come back, and that cost is part of the job. After that come the same things that shape any move: how much you own, floors and elevators at each end, how close a vehicle can park, disassembly, and any extras. Because no two addresses are alike, this site has no price list and no per-kilometre rate. Send the details and ask for the number.
Plan the day around the road, not only around the flat. The vehicle is loaded at one end, drives, and is unloaded at the other, and a late start means unloading in the evening, tired, when the new building's elevator may be unavailable and the neighbours want quiet. Sunday to Thursday is the working week, Friday is short, and Saturday is Shabbat. An early start on a weekday makes a long-distance move much smoother. For the far north or Eilat, we say in the offer whether the job is planned across two days, so it is not a surprise on the day.
Two addresses mean two sets of rules. Each building may have its own elevator booking, moving hours, committee notice and permission to park a large vehicle, and each is arranged by you or your landlord. Someone has to be at each address, or you hand the keys and instructions to a person you trust. If you plan to travel ahead so that you are there when the vehicle arrives, tell us, and we plan the timing so the receiving end is ready first. Our guide to moving-day parking permits explains the general process, and the details depend on the municipality.
Pack for a longer drive. A load is on the road for hours, so pack boxes tightly, fill empty spaces, and label each one with its room at the new address. Put what you need on the first night in a bag that travels in your car, not on the vehicle: bedding, chargers, medication, documents and a few kitchen basics. Mattresses and wardrobes need wrapping, so tell us if you want it, and the offer says what is included. If you would rather not pack, packing services and furniture assembly have their own pages, and the full-service option brings them together under one contact.
Small loads can travel too. If you are moving a studio or a few pieces between cities, say so. A small load still means a long trip for the vehicle, so the price does not shrink in proportion, but we ask for it on that basis and tell you what is possible.
Book as soon as the dates are fixed. The end of the month, the summer and the days around Jewish holidays are the busy periods, and the choice of moving companies narrows when they are. Send both addresses, the floor and elevator at each, photos of the larger items, the date range you can live with, and any extras. If something changes before the day, such as another room of furniture, we update the price before work starts.
